Iyad is an Iraqi soldier who was riding with the marines convoy during the incident.
Mashoot
MASHOOT stated he was with the Marine convoy, riding in the back of the HMMV with three other ISF and two unknown Marines. Other Marines in the HMMV included the driver and a front seat passenger. MASHOOT stated at approximately 0700 the Marine Convoy was driving from the Tactical Check Point (TCP) back to the base on relatively empty city streets when they encountered the IED. MASHOOT stated he was riding in the third vehicle in the four vehicle convoy and the IED exploded on the fourth vehicle. MASHOOT stated he witnessed the explosion and after the explosion, they all dismounted the vehicles and began taking small arms fire (SAF) from straight ahead (west) and the left (south) side of the road.
